New Simulation Lab at College of Saint Elizabeth Prepares Next Gen Healthcare Professionals

The finished Clinical Assessment Lab and Patient Evaluation Clinic features human patient simulation labs with 12 beds, six fully equipped examination rooms, with observation areas equipped with video cameras and microphones to enable instructors to monitor simulations in real-time. High-fidelity computerized mannequins (which simulate real-life health care scenarios) and an Anatomage Table (a life-size interactive dissection table that allows students to visualize anatomy down to the cellular level), create the ultimate hands-on exploratory experience and critical thinking necessary within medical environments.

“Competition to get into hospitals and nursing homes for clinical rotations is fierce. The simulation center offers our students immediate access to the latest technology and care practices,” said Helen J. Streubert, president of CSE. “This practical experience will give CSE students the opportunity to hone critical thinking skills necessary for the today’s aggressive nursing job market.”

For this project, two design studios within in the firm – higher education and healthcare – joined forces to blend their respective areas of planning and design expertise in learning spaces and regulated healthcare environments to ensure the spaces mirror real-life experiences.

The newly named Anastasia Health Sciences Center was opened in November of 2018.
