Completed the programing and preparation of schematic design bridging documents for a new office complex tor Union County’s Government operations within an aggressive 4-month duration.
This project involves the redevelopment of an existing urban site for a new County Government Complex. As Architect of Record, DIG established the design concept for two interconnected towers: a mid-rise and a high-rise, featuring a landscaped plaza with custom artwork and a platform for gatherings and county ceremonies.
The Complex consists of one mid-rise and one high-rise tower separated by a landscaped outdoor plaza with artwork, and a variety of areas for social engagement. The Administration Building is a 5-story, 82,000 SF structure with secure parking and EV stations. The Human Services Building, housing the county’s public-facing services, is a 7-story, 135,000 SF facility located on the east end of the site, near downtown, public parking, and transportation.
To create a more welcoming and pedestrian-friendly streetscape, the lower two floors of the buildings feature curved facades that step back from the street. The upper floors are clad with complementary glass and metal panels, arranged in varied modules that respond to interior uses and allow ample daylight to penetrate the building. The materials and systems were selected for their sustainability and durability, requiring minimal maintenance.
